Hello! My name is Heather Scott.

This will be my eighth year working at the Greensburg Elementary School as the Home School Advisor. I've had a great eight years at GES. I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I graduated from Cumberland College with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a minor in Social Work. My husband Anthony and I moved to Decatur county 16 years ago and we have two children Kirk and Kelsey.

You maybe asking yourself, what is a Home School Advisor? I am a liaison between home and school. A few of my responsibilities include working with the bus drivers to ensure students adhere to school bus rules. If a student doesn't follow the bus rules, I will then implement established school bus discipline procedures. Parents will be notified via phone or by letter through the mail if their child has had inappropriate conduct on the bus. I oversee the Peaceful School Bus Program.  This program is held 4 times a year. Students and their bus drivers meet to discuss how to work together to make the bus environment a more pleasant and peaceful experience for all.
I will be checking and monitoring daily student attendance, so please remember to call and report your child's absence and the reason why your child won't be attending for the day. You can contact me at 663-8112 ext.1609. If you forget to call and report your child's absence, please expect a phone call from myself or another designated staff member to check on your child's well being.
Another responsibility of being the Home School Advisor is to conduct class-wide social skills lessons. I will be working closely with the student support staff in dealing with problems or potential problems that students could be having either in school or outside of school.

Please remember open communication between school staff and parents is the key to the success, growth, and education of all students. Please feel free to contact me with questions you may have through out the school year.
